Hampshire
County: The French and Indian War
Again,
our Hampshire250 Director, Janet Harlow, and our Hampshire250
Co-Chairperson, Roberta Munske, have done us proud with a wonderful
display of the first years of Hampshire County as the French and Indian
War raged around the frontier.
The display
begins by giving some background on the causes of the French and Indian
War, goes through the years it raged in and around Hampshire County and
ends after peace returned to the frontier.
The
display devotes some space to our most famous hero, Col. George
Washington. It was Col. Washington and his Virginia Regiment that had
the task of protecting our settlers during this bloody conflict.

Like all good library exhibits, this one has a very wide selection of
books that library patrons can check out to learn more about the French
and Indian war.
