The information contained in these pages is taken from various sources including the Tripplett manuscript of Hampshire County cemeteries; Wilmer Kern's books; Vicki Horton's cemetery listings as well as a few other sources; not all of it has been verified. We will not answer queries about information on these pages! At the present time no location maps are available for these cemeteries. 32. Caudy (John) Cemetery: Locate at North River is on land owned by a Mr. and Mrs. Frain of Washington, D.C. It is accessed by going down Hickory Corner Rd. toward North River. The cemetery is fenced. Buried there are: John Caudy, born on Jan. 22, 1770 and died March 23, 1826. John's wife, Rebecca McDonald, is buried there in unmarked grave. Benjamin Caudy died in September 1804, age 8 years. It is believed that members of the Stump and Short families are also buried there.

42. Copsey Graveyard: Located along the road that leads west from Bloomery to Slanesville. As you approach the bridge that crosses over the little Cacapon River, look to your right at an open field, which was Copsey's land and the site of his former tavern. Turn around at the bridge and head back toward Bloomery. Turn left on the first dirt road (only a few hundred yards from the bridge) and look to your right as you go up a hill. There are some marked and mostly uninscribed stones in the graveyard. It is easier to find in the winter when the leaves are gone.

51. Deskin Will Cemetery: Located along North River Road as you go toward Ice Mountain. You must go on foot. This cemetery is near an abandoned house along the road.
    
52. Didawink Gravesite: This cemetery is located off of Timber Mtn. Rd. west of Capon Bridge. Head down Timber Mtn. Rd. until the road makes a sharp right turn (don't turn) go down the dirt road past the apple orchard. I haven't been to this site yet, I was told that it was a single grave, near Capon Bridge, WV.

Buried in that cemetery is Heiskell's mother-in-law, Catherine Huff, daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth (Heironimus) Huff.

125. House-Johnson Cemetery: Some locals have referred to it as "Shade Cemetery." John W.C. Largent (1826-1886) and wife are also buried there, so it could be called a Largent Cemetery. Adam Kaylor (1832-1910) and wife are buried there, along with graves of infant children. The oldest marked graves belong to Nellie House who died in 1793 and Sara Johnson (1778-1792). The cemetery is located near the Little Cacapon River. Go to the old Neal's Run Post Office and go up the steep hill (dirt road) and inquire at the first or second house on the right. You will need some help because it isn't near landmarks, and it isn't visible from the road. The Abe family owned the cemetery when I used to visit it but both of them are now deceased.

175. McDonald (Benjamin) Cemetery: Continue on the dirt road past the Hiett house and graveyard until you see a swinging bridge across North River on the left side of road. Park there and walk across the bridge and turn right past a small log cabin (a large vacant house is on the hill to the left). Climb the hill above the log cabin and you will find this old graveyard on the top of the hill.
     
176. McGee Cemetery (Old McGee Farm): Located 1.4 miles South of Rada on Rt.220 to Rt.220/6, then Southeast about .6 miles on Rt.220/6, the cemetery is 300 feet East of the highway.

178. Mendenhall Cemetery: Located on North River northwest of North River Mills on Baker Farms property.
     
179. Methodist Church Cemetery: Located on Rt. 50 at Augusta, WV.

181. Miller Cemetery: Located 4.4 miles Northeast of Glebe on Rt.8, the cemetery is 1000 feet Southeast of the highway.
     
182. Milleson Cemetery: Located about 1.4 miles Southwest of Green Spring on Rt.1 to a side road, the cemetery is 10 feet off the road.
     
183. Milleson Cemetery: There is no road or path to the Milleson cemetery. You will have to climb several difficult fences and walk across fields to get there. It used to be called the Robinson farm. James Pyles was the owner in the 1980s. It's not too far from the Slanesville Elementary School, but on the opposite side of the road, and way back off the road.
     
184. Mill Run Cemetery: Located 1.1 miles West of Romney on Rt.50 to Rt.8, then South 3.2 miles on Rt.8 to Rt.8/1, then West 1.2 miles on Rt.8/1 to the cemetery.
     
185. Mills Cemetery: Located .7 miles Northwest of Sector on Rt.3/8 to a private road, then South about .6 miles on the private road, the cemetery is 525 feet West of the road.
     
186. Millslagle Cemetery: Located on Cooper's Mountain, believe the entrance is near the Methodist Church at Loom. If you went to the Cooper graveyard, you passed it on the left. Ask the people who live up that road on right side; the cemetery is almost in view of their house, on left side just beyond their house.

To the left of the cabin there is an open field, and on the far side of the field, along the tree line, in back there is a small cemetery. I don't know how many people are buried there, but will find out once the snow leaves.

302. Tinkling Springs Cemetery: Located in Cacapon. About 5-6 miles downstream from Capon Bridge, on land that is believed to be owned by a hunting club from Fairmont, WV. This is at the foot of Sandy Ridge where it meets the Cacapon River. The water from Tinkling Springs spurts from Sandy Ridge at the Cacapon River. Walk the trail (a mile or two) from Merril Mantz's place on Cold Stream Road (near the junk yard) down to the river. Must get permission from the Mantzes to gain access.

304. Unknown Hanging Rocks Cemetery: Old cemetery located on Rt28 north after crossing the Lower Hanging Rocks Bridge. This cemetery is located just to the east of the old summer camp on the left of the road, literally in the back yard of a summer residence, owners at that time were very considerate of visitors. This site has about 8-10 graves, markers are chiseled field stone with the recognizable script being what appears to be old english. Estimated the era at late 1700s.
